Ecoways EAZ wind turbine specs.

How high is your windmill?

The mast height of our mill is 15 meters and the tip height is 21.6 meters.

How many types of wind turbines do you have?

We have three types: the Ecoways EAZ 13.2., the WES-80 and the WES-250.

Why are the blades made of wood?

Wood is a very strong and light product with high ductility, a high fatigue limit and is completely recyclable. The blades of our windmill are made of larch wood. And because sustainability is paramount to us, we cooperate with the Forestry Commission.

What is the lifespan of the Ecoways EAZ wind turbine?

The technical lifetime of our mill is 20 years.

Is the Ecoways EAZ wind turbine storm-proof?

Yes, our mill is storm-proof. If the wind speed is too high at 14 m/s (50.4 km/h), the blades automatically pitch, thus turning out of the wind. If there is a storm then they turn completely flat and no longer catch wind. This is a brake that is standard on the wind turbine to ensure safety. In addition, we also have a backup brake on the generator. The windmill automatically turns again when the wind is less strong.

What is the rated capacity of the EAZ-model wind turbine?

The Ecoways EAZ 13.2 farmer's mill is a small wind turbine with a peak capacity of 15 kW.

What is the speed of the Ecoways EAZ wind turbine?

Our mill has a rated speed of 80 rpm.

The Ecoways EAZ wind turbine at my farm.

Is an Ecoways EAZ wind turbine right for me?

Our windmill can only be placed on a location that is designated for agricultural use. It can only be placed in a municipality with a small windmill policy. In addition, we recommend minimum levels of energy consumption when generating, because of the payback period.

How does my livestock respond to the Ecoways EAZ wind turbine?

Different animals may react differently to the barn mill. In the case of cows, it is advisable to place a fence around the mast and electrical box so that they are not damaged by scouring.

Can the mast be in a different color?

No, we can't. We think it is important that the mills all have the same colour because then there remains a uniform image in the landscape. We've found that this colour blends well in a green agricultural landscape. Most local policies also often talk about quiet and subdued colours.

What is the yield of my Ecoways EAZ wind turbine?

It varies by location. The yield depends on objects in the area and the specific location of the farm mill. And of course the wind speeds and directions in your region. We are happy to perform a free site analysis for your location to give you an indication.

Can I monitor the output of my Ecoways EAZ wind turbine?

You can! With the Miller app, you can track the energy production of your mill at any time. The results are tracked by day, month and year.

What do I connect a small wind turbine to?

To connect a small wind turbine, you need a connection between 3x35A and 3x80A. Our team can provide all the information on how to connect a small wind turbine to the meter box.

Location and neighbors.

What is the appropriate location for a farm wind turbine?

The ideal location is in the backyard, in the building area, south and west free (so no interference from buildings and obstruction) and of course at an appropriate distance from third parties. During a visit to your farm, you and our team will determine the best location for your farm mill.

How much noise does an Ecoways EAZ wind turbine make?

It is impossible to make a wind turbine soundless, but ours is quiet. The parts that make noise in our windmill are the light whirring of the blades and the gentle humming of the generator. An acoustic study was conducted for the noise production of the Ecoways EAZ-13.2 wind turbine. This showed that our wind turbine always meets the noise standards set by law. On a normal day, the noise when standing near the windmill is roughly comparable to the background noise in a library or that of a humming refrigerator.

Can my neighbors hear my wind turbine?

The sound of our small mill cannot be compared to the large industrial wind turbines. On a normal day, the sound if you stand close to the mill is roughly comparable to the background noise in a library or from a humming refrigerator.

By law, a distance of 60 meters is sufficient. When determining the location of the mill, we will try to minimize noise pollution as much as possible and keep as wide a berth from residential houses as possible.

What do I need to know about cast shadow?

Impact shadow is calculated by multiplying the rotor diameter times 12. The rotor diameter of our windmill is 13.2 meters. A diameter of 158 meters is used for our wind turbine, taking into account the position of the sun in relation to the facade of the third-party residence. In practice, the wind turbine is placed at a sufficient distance from the neighbours to avoid nuisance.

Can I choose another location for the mill after the permit?

It is not possible to place the mill in a location other than the one on which the permit is issued. We apply for the mill based on specific coordinates, and this is what the permit is issued on. If it turns out that a change of location is needed, we have to resubmit this to the municipality.

Process and Permit.

What is the process of buying an Ecoways EAZ wind turbine?

We take care of our clients from A to Z. What you can expect from us:

  • On-farm consultation and site analysis;
  • Customized quote;
  • Application for the permit and support with any subsidies by our back office;
  • The EAZ windmill is made in our own factory in Groningen;
  • The windmill is delivered to you and installed by our own team;
  • We provide monitoring and maintenance of the windmill.

How long before I can start using my mill after purchase?

You should expect 6 to 8 months between a signed agreement and the installation of the mill. It usually takes 1-2 days to install the mill, weather dependent.

What permit do I need to install an Ecoways EAZ wind turbine?

To place a farm mill, you need an environmental permit. We will apply for this for you.

How long does it take to apply for a permit?

The exact deadline is difficult to determine and varies from situation to situation. When we submit a permit using a regular procedure, there is a set period of up to 8 weeks. The municipality may extend this once by 6 weeks.

What does a preliminary consultation entail?

Some municipalities use pre-consultation. Based on the preliminary consultation, the municipality lets you know whether the plan has a chance of obtaining a permit. During the preliminary consultation, the municipality checks whether our plan complies with the zoning plan and the building regulations. There is no fixed deadline for handling a preliminary consultation, which makes it difficult to provide a general deadline. Usually, this happens within 8 weeks.

What documentation is required for a permit?

We provide all documentation requested by the municipality. This may include:

  • Site plan and survey map
  • Technical documentation of our wind turbine
  • Justification of your energy needs
  • Landscape integration
  • 3D visualization
  • Acoustic research
  • Notification of activities decree
  • Soil investigation
  • Ecological quick scan
  • Environmental documentation
  • An archaeological survey
  • Noise report
  • Nitrogen report

Do I have to do anything for the permit myself?

We may need your help (a little) in completing the documentation. We may ask you to discuss the plan with neighbours or provide evidence of your energy use.

Grants.

How do I know if I can get a grant?

We are happy to check with you to see if you are eligible for one or more subsidies. For example, the ISDE subsidy. If that is the case, we will support or assist you with the application. It depends on the application whether it is necessary for you to do something yourself.

What do I need to do myself to receive the ISDE subsidy?

We will apply for the ISDE subsidy for you. We may need proof in order to arrange the application, but you will hear from us.

What subsidies is the Ecoways EAZ wind turbine eligible for?

There are several subsidies available that encourage sustainable investments. Nationally, this is the ISDE subsidy. There are also regional subsidies, such as the Maatwerkregeling of the Agro Program for the earthquake area in Groningen and the CAP subsidy for several provinces in the Netherlands.

How high is the ISDE subsidy?

Currently, an ISDE subsidy is available for the purchase of the small wind turbine to the value of approx. €19180-, under the conditions set by the RVO.

Finance.

What does an Ecoways EAZ wind turbine cost?

This varies per location. When purchasing, we not only supply the product, we also do the location analysis, (support with) subsidies, and take care of the permit application. We also take care of the installation, including the entire electrical infrastructure. The final investment costs vary per location and situation.

We are happy to provide a no-obligation quote for your farm.

Can I lease an Ecoways EAZ wind turbine?

This is currently only possible if you are a Rabobank customer. This is because the Ecoways mill is considered real estate. DLL can then use Rabobank's security (first mortgage right).

What do you mean by additional costs for the permit?

We assume costs for a permit where we do not need help from others. When we need a third party to advise or support our permit application, this may incur additional costs. Whether this is necessary varies by situation.

How can I insure my mill?

You can ask your own insurance company if it is possible to have the wind turbine included in your existing storm insurance policy or homeowners' insurance policy. This is usually possible for a small amount per year. It is also possible to purchase a separate insurance policy.

Maintenance.

Is maintenance needed on the wind turbine?

Yes, because prevention is the best insurance. That is why we provide a regular inspection and maintenance service every 1.5 years. For this, we offer a service contract. This contract also includes our daily remote monitoring and our breakdown service. If there are (technical) problems or malfunctions, our service team will visit the farm to ensure that the mill is once again functioning optimally. The service contract is mandatory during the warranty period of the first five years.

Do you monitor my wind turbine after installation?

Yes, and we do that proactively. The entire energy system is connected to our management system through the mobile network. This allows us to remotely monitor the operation of the system. We compare energy production and behaviour with expectations and, where necessary, our maintenance team intervenes. Through this active way of monitoring, any problems are detected quickly. The condition of the electrical system is also monitored so that any electrical failures can be resolved early.

Installation.

How exactly does mill installation work?

First, we check on site whether the current electrical system is suitable to connect our wind turbine to. If this is not the case, we advise how to adapt it. If desired, we can even submit a proposal with a corresponding quotation so that we can take care of these adjustments for you. Then we map out the cable route, from the mill to the meter cupboard or junction box. In consultation with you, we determine how and where the cable runs. Then our own installation team will visit you to dig in the cables or lay them neatly through the barn or shed. Finally, after this the windmill is actually placed and connected.

Can I drive over the foundation?

No. The foundation has an area of 6x6 meters. The maximum ground pressure allowed on the foundation is 20 tons of axle pressure (10 tons per wheel). With higher ground pressure, there is a risk of broken ground plates. We will never place a farm mill in places where the foundation is driven over by heavy vehicles.

What does the foundation consist of?

It depends on the subsoil. On sandy and clay soils we use concrete slabs, on weaker peat soils we work with piles. To determine the subsoil, we use CPT data.

How big is the foundation?

  • On sand and clay soil, we use a foundation with precast reinforced concrete slabs. We dig a 6x6m hole 80cm deep. Here we lay a bed of sand which we compact. In the corners of the hole we lay a reinforced concrete slab. A thick steel cross connects the concrete slab to the mast. The soil is then returned to the hole as ballast on the plates.

  • On weaker peat soils, we use piles instead of concrete slabs. We vibrate the piles until they rest on a deeper solid layer of soil. We use tubular piles that we fill with concrete. Again, a thick steel cross connects the piles to the mast. Only the mast protrudes above the ground.

Can I do anything myself before installation?

In consultation, it is possible to dig or lay cables yourself. It is included in the price, so normally our installation team does these tasks for you. If you want to dig the cables yourself, it is possible; in that case, we can offer a discount.

How will everything be connected in the meter box?

The wiring comes together in the meter box of the farm. This is where everything is connected correctly and safely to supply power to the farm. This is done according to current standards. Sometimes the meter box needs to be rebuilt or expanded, which is included in our offer.
